We Need A Chaplain! (Please share with any good priest who might be interested)

We, the Poor Clare Sisters of Barhamsville, Va.,

are looking for a Resident Chaplain to provide for us the essential service of daily Mass.

All candidates for this position should be priests of good standing who are orthodox in their theology and comfortable with a monastic liturgy celebrated according to the norms of Vatican II.

There are no age limits as long as a candidate enjoys reasonably good health and is of sound mind and spirit.

For a priest attracted to the contemplative life, our Poor Clare monastery is located in the perfect setting:  beautiful rural New Kent County.

The chaplain’s residence, within walking distance from the monastery, is a rustic log cabin complete with chapel, bedroom, study, living room, kitchen, laundry and one car garage.  It is fully furnished and has its own utilities (heat pump, well, septic system and generator).

For a priest who, in addition to a quiet lifestyle would also like some opportunities for ministry and friendly interaction, benefactors of the monastery and members of local parishes are always nearby.  The historic city of Williamsburg is located just 30 minutes away to the southeast and the smaller city of West Point is 10 minutes to the west.

In addition to rent-free use of the chaplain’s private log cabin, other benefits, including stipend, insurance, food, cleaning services and transportation will be negotiated according to the needs and desires of the chaplain.

Those priests who are interested in becoming our resident Chaplain at the Monastery of Poor Clares in Barhamsville, Va. should contact:
